Logic is a discipline that examines whether a piece of information is true or false in terms of its structure and reveals the difference between true and false through reasoning. The aim of the science of logic is to distinguish valid thought from flawed and invalid thought, to ensure correct thinking by avoiding illusions, and to check the accuracy of thoughts.
The science of logic has also been among the sciences used by Muslim scholars. Muslim scholars, who became acquainted with logic in the 8th century AD, defined logic as the certainty, accuracy, and measure of information. With this approach, logic has been included in studies as a methodological science in the field of religious sciences, as in other sciences. Muslim scholars have particularly accepted logic as the way to reach certain and infallible knowledge in matters such as making correct definitions, ensuring the objectivity and general validity of propositions, and how to reason in different fields. The ultimate aim of the Logic course, which is included in the theology undergraduate programs, is to enable students to distinguish the consistency and validity of all kinds of information they encounter in the learning process from inconsistent and invalid information and to gain the competence to produce consistent and valid information instead.
